Four new Hitachi excavators are busy working on several residential developments in Colorado. Coyote Ridge Construction (CRC) took delivery of two ZX300LC-6 excavators in April 2016, with a ZX350LC-6 following in June and a ZX135US-6 in November.

Established in 2009 in Loveland, Colo., CRC is owned and operated by Ken Baty and his wife, Jane. The general contractor specializes in the underground phases of residential, industrial and commercial construction projects. Baty and his wife also own two additional businesses: Front Range Concrete and Coyote Ridge Residential, which specializes in basement excavation.

Currently, CRC’s Hitachi excavators are completing utility and foundation work for residential developments located in Fort Collins, Loveland and the surrounding areas. Baty said the new excavators have already proven to be dependable differentiators for his company.

“I believe in doing what you say,” he said. “We’re always looking for a competitive edge, and Hitachi equipment is a big part of that for us. They’re productive, fuel-efficient, durable, and they don’t have any overheating issues in the Colorado altitude.”

Baty said he plans on adding more Hitachi excavators to his fleet in the future.

“We’ve demoed different brands and sizes of machines over the years, and we feel that Hitachi fits us best,” he said. “We’ve got some other brands of equipment in our fleet. But as those get traded in, we’re going to stick with Hitachi. 4 Rivers Equipment, our equipment dealer, and Hitachi are great partners in helping us succeed as a company.”
