Anything and everything to do with forestry operations was found at DEMO International, one of North America’s largest and most distinctive outdoor equipment shows, held Sept. 22-24, 2016.
The flagship event of the Canadian Woodlands Forum, DEMO International is held every four years in a different location. For the first time in 16 years, the show returned to Western Canada and was hosted in Maple Ridge, B.C.
Thousands of visitors to the Hitachi booth at DEMO got a sneak peek of the new Foresters: ZX210F-6, ZX260F-6, ZX310F-6 and ZX370F-6. Available as either a Forestry Excavator or Log Loader, these new Foresters feature completely redesigned cabs, new Final Tier 4 (FT4)/EU Stage IV Isuzu engines, excellent uptime and improved durability along with reduced cost of operation and improved productivity. These models will be available in 2017.
Hitachi dealers and customers also got the opportunity to tour Deere-Hitachi Specialty Products (DHSP), the Hitachi forestry factory, in Langley, B.C., and visit with Hitachi and Wajax Equipment teams. DHSP was established in 1998 and consists of a10 684 m2 (115,000 ft.2) forestry-specific manufacturing facility. The facility produces Hitachi and John Deere forestry swing machines, ranging from 26- to 46-metric-ton models.
