Fuel saving EX1200-7, EX2600-7 and EX5600-7 recognized as Top New Products of 2019

November 26, 2019

Hitachi Construction Machinery earned Construction Equipment’s Top 100 New Products of 2019 Award. The new EX1200-7, EX2600-7 and EX5600-7 excavators were named as new products that showcase innovation and highlight Hitachi’s investment in research and development.

Construction Equipment editors considered several hundred products within this awards process. Greater productivity, efficiency and safety were the top considerations when selecting award recipients. The editors made the selections independently, drawing upon experience with equipment technology and the equipment marketplace.

“We’re pleased to see the EX-7 Series receive this type of recognition,” said Brian Mace, mining product marketing and applications manager, Hitachi Construction Machinery – Americas. “The EX1200-7, EX2600-7 and EX5600-7 take Hitachi’s mining machines to the next level, and we’re glad the industry is recognizing the features we’ve packed into each machine to provide maximum efficiency, reliability and durability.”

Within the EX1200-7, EX2600-7 and EX5600-7, Hitachi’s Fuel Consumption Optimization (FCO) technologies reduce fuel consumption up to 6-10 percent versus the previous models (EX1200-6, EX2600-6 and EX5600-6) through engine options and hydraulic system improvements. The EX2600-7 and EX5600-7 also reduce the power consumption with a boom lower circuit regeneration and a large hydraulic oil cooler and fan, which can operate at a lower speed to maintain optimal oil temperature.

The new EX-7 Series machines also offer increased reliability with cylinder stroke end control, which helps ensure structural longevity and operator comfort by using angle sensors to help reduce the cylinder pump flow rate for smoother and slower movement. Acting on customer input, Hitachi also rearranged the hydraulic hoses from an arched to an underslung configuration, which makes the hoses less prone to deflection due to decreased hose load.

The new machines also include features that strengthen their durability and simplify serviceability. A pressurized cab bed improves the life of electrical components and controllers by using an air filter to keep out dust and debris. Maintenance is also reduced with a greaseless center joint that utilizes available hydraulic oil for lubrication rather than needing grease lubrication.
