Marcobre recently took delivery of three hydraulic shovels with electric propulsion – the EX5600E-6FS (600 tons of operational weight). The shovels are the first ones in the Americas with electric propulsion.
The machines will serve as the main material loading equipment on the Mina Justa Project, owned by Marcobre S.A.C., which is located in the Ica Province in Peru. The site is near the town of Nazca, home of the world-famous Nazca Lines. Once the project is completed, it will consist of two open pit mines and two processing facilities.
Zamine is the distributor for Hitachi mining equipment (hydraulic shovels and rigid frame trucks) in Peru. Representatives were on-site for the recent delivery to Marcobre.
Zamine, as part of the Marubeni Group Inc., provides the ultimate customer support, which is why its product support team will join Marcobre personnel during the operation and maintenance of the Hitachi shovels.
The hydraulic-electric shovels, which began operation during the summer 2019, are covered by a Labor Plus Parts (LPP) contract, which will ensure the proper availability to comply with the mine plan. In addition to technical support, Zamine will provide an important inventory of main components, spare parts and consumables throughout the duration of the LPP contract.
